Set up by the government of India in 2007, co-promoted as an energy domain specific institute by six leading public sector oil companies---ONGC, IOC, OIL, GAIL, BPCL and HPCL---in association with the Oil Industry Development Board (OIDB), aims to provide world class education, training and research in the petroleum and energy sectors, offers undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral level programmes.
